Optical Connectivity

SN Fiber Assemblies

SN fiber assembly requests organized around both endpoints, fiber type, polarity, construction, length, and system context.

Representative SN-to-SN assembly. Specify fiber type, polish, polarity, length and jacket independently; this is not a photograph of the FS catalog examples below.

Use these published configurations to describe the part you need. Current availability and compatibility are confirmed for each request.

Define the complete assembly

An SN connector name describes only one part of the link. A request should identify both ends, fiber type, polarity, construction, length, and the equipment or panel context.

Information needed for quotation

Area Buyer input
Interfaces Connector type, orientation, and both endpoints
Optical path Fiber type, fiber count, polarity, and any loss requirement
Assembly Length, jacket, routing, labeling, and packaging

Technical parameters and selection boundaries

Published configurations differ by manufacturer and exact part number. These are selection dimensions, not one combined specification.

Parameter Documented example or choice Verify for this request
Fiber construction example The inspected FS SN range is duplex OS2 9/125 micrometre, G.657.A1 single-mode fiber. A two-fiber cable is not a multi-channel SN Uniboot assembly. Confirm fiber count and the exact connector arrangement.
Connector ends and polish SN-to-SN and SN-to-LC options; UPC-to-UPC in the inspected range. Specify both ends. SN, MDC and CS are different interfaces even when used with similar transceiver form factors.
Cable diameter and jacket SN examples: 1.6 mm round cable with PVC (OFNR) jacket. The same sheet lists 2.0 mm for CS and MDC; do not transfer that value to its SN parts. Confirm site fire and routing requirements.
Bend radius The FS assembly sheet specifies a 10 mm minimum bend radius. Apply only to the documented cable construction. Confirm installation handling, pulling limits and repeated-bend requirements separately.
Optical-loss entries SN insertion loss is listed as no more than 0.2 dB; return loss at least 50 dB. Request the actual assembly test method and acceptance record. These entries are not the loss budget of a complete installed channel.
Fiber attenuation and wavelength The named single-mode range lists 0.4 dB/km at 1310 nm and 0.3 dB/km for SN at 1550 nm. Fiber attenuation per kilometre and connector insertion loss use different units and must not be combined as one rating.
Operating versus storage temperature FS SN range: operation −10 to +60 °C; storage −20 to +70 °C. The +70 °C operating limit elsewhere in this sheet belongs to CS/MDC, not SN. Other suppliers need their own applicable datasheet.
Polarity and link conditions The sheet specifies A (Tx) to B (Rx), and gives a 2 km 400G example with OSFP-400G-2FR4. The distance is conditional on that optical implementation. An SN connector alone does not establish a 400G or 2 km link capability.

Standard configurations and project options

Configuration area Documented option Project decision
Standard and requested lengths A 1 m SN-to-SN SKU and a separate configurable-length SKU are listed. Supply route length, slack and length tolerance; confirm the permitted length range and delivered test record.
Mixed connector ends SN-to-LC UPC Uniboot configurations are listed alongside SN-to-SN. Describe each port and patching endpoint; do not choose a mixed-end cable from the connector name on only one side.
Fiber and jacket changes The referenced examples use OS2 and OFNR PVC. A different fiber, jacket or fire rating is a separate requested construction requiring its own confirmation; it is not automatically included in these SKUs.

Representative models and configurations

Examples illustrate real product variation. A listed manufacturer or model is not a statement of our stock, authorization, or confirmed availability.

Manufacturer / series Published configuration Important scope
FS #155082 1 m; SN UPC to SN UPC; duplex OS2; 1.6 mm; PVC (OFNR). Exact catalog ID from the retained VSFF sheet. The hero is a different supplier's representative SN cable, not a photo of this SKU.
FS #155092 Requested-length SN UPC to SN UPC; duplex OS2; 1.6 mm; PVC (OFNR). Configuration entry; actual requested length and current orderability require confirmation.
FS #155087 1 m; SN UPC to flat-clip LC UPC Uniboot; duplex OS2; 1.6 mm; PVC (OFNR). Different connector arrangement from SN-to-SN. Match both equipment endpoints.

Applications and procurement context

  • Use SN assemblies when the specified optical ports and patching design require SN interfaces. Provide transceiver model, both port types, polarity, routing length and loss budget before confirming an assembly.

Compatibility, current supply, lead time, origin, and acceptance documents must be confirmed for the actual order.
