Prepare an exact-match record before sourcing
Capture the installed item and the platform it serves before removing labels or changing configuration. State whether the purchase restores a failed system, creates a spare pool or extends the life of a legacy installation.

Review and acceptance boundary
Ask for clarification when date code, revision or condition is unknown. Do not treat a listing as evidence that a discontinued item is available, or assume that a visually identical part has the same firmware or platform support.
